On Wednesday in Kaduna, NUJ Chairman Asma’u received the prestigious award for excellence.
The honor—the fourth award the NUJ Chairman has received this year—was granted in honor of Asmau’s outstanding contributions to the progress of the Union and humanity.
Muhammad Bello Abubakar, state coordinator for the Freedom for Humanity International Foundation, who presented the award, praised Asma’u for her accomplishments and the significant part she has played in the growth of the Union, Kaduna state, and the nation as a whole.
Speaking during the ceremony, Abubakar claimed that the NUJ Chairman and other honorees had given up a lot of their perfect balance and improving other people’s lives are equivalent in terms of time, money, and energy.
In her reaction shortly after receiving the award, the NUJ Chairman thanked the organisers of the event for deeming it fit for recognizing the contributions of the NUJ towards nation building.
The Coordinator remarked, “These people have had an influence, leaving a legacy of transforming grief into happiness, anguish into joy, and disappointment into hope, I assure you that this award will spur us to do more.
In response to the honor, Asma’u stated that it will motivate her and the other executive members to be more committed and focused, particularly on the issues affecting women and children who are frequently left in hopeless situations.
This is in line with what she mentioned about the Kaduna NUJ and its members constantly standing out for the rights of the oppressed.
Pastor Yohanna Buru, Hajia Bilkisu Musa Yakubu, Sheikh Musa Asadunnah, Comrade Mustapha Haruna Khalifah, Barr. Tajudeen Oladoja SAN, Engineer Usman Musa, and Barr. Abubakar Abdullahi Ashad and Alkali Muhammad Nasir. are other recipients of the award.
